Amid the coronavirus pandemic,  Etisalat, UAE’s largest telecom operator made its monthly Internet calling plan free for two months, starting April. Etisalat subscribers can now have Free and Unlimited internet calling for two months.

“To stay in touch with your loved ones during these challenging times, subscribe to the monthly Internet calling plan service for free in April and May, and enjoy voice and video calls with the supported apps,” a message to customers said. “To subscribe, SMS ‘ICP’ to 1012. Together at home matters.”

Etisalat customers who are already subscribed to the package will have to unsubscribe and then subscribe again to take advantage of the deal. Subscribers will also be able to use VoIP apps including Botim and C’Me to make video and audio calls.

In March, Etisalat – along with rival Du – agreed to provide internet data packages via mobile phones to ensure that learning continues for students across the UAE amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The move – which followed an announcement from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) includes families with no home internet services.

Etisalat’s internet calling plan costs Dh50 per month if used on mobile phones and Dh100 per month if used with Wi-Fi service at home using multiple devices. Etisalat will not charge monthly fee for two months – April and May.
