According to the latest WhatsApp update, you can now update your status in text and add a colourful background to it, similar to Facebook. While earlier it was seen in beta versions, the update is being slowly rolled out to Android and iOS.
iOS users might have to wait a bit as the roll-out of this update has just started.
Another interesting feature from this update is you can see these statuses on WhatsApp web as well. But you can’t update your status from WhatsApp web.
