E25, Emaar’s in-house disruption lab that serves as a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs aged 25 and under to build new startups or work on innovative projects within Emaar, recently launched letswork, a community of co-working spaces across Dubai.
letswork partners with hotels and restaurants in the city to create spaces for people to work, meet and innovate in inspiring venues instead of traditional offices. Co-founded by Omar AlMheiri and Hamza Khan, letswork was born out of a problem faced by thousands of freelancers, entrepreneurs and early-stage start-ups in the UAE who require affordable and flexible spaces to work from around the city. The only options previously available were to either pay as you go at cafes, purchase membership of a single co-working space, or invest in expensive real estate. Now, individuals have a fourth choice that combines the best elements of all the different options into a package that is as cheap as the price of a coffee a day. Membership benefits include unlimited tea, coffee and water, meeting room access, free parking and 20% discount off F&B as well as the choice of availing these benefits at a number of locations across Dubai.
letswork is not only solving problems for people looking for spaces to work from. ‘We saw a number of stunning venues across the city that were busy only at certain hours of the day and lacked the footfall they deserved. We realized we could help solve both problems through one unique solution,’ says Omar AlMheiri. ‘Each venue has been carefully vetted to simulate a terrific working environment for our members, whether through the reserved seating near plugs or the fast WiFi. Our members have the flexibility to choose where they want from and when, whether at Downtown in the morning or Dubai Marina in the afternoon or even Arabian Ranches in the early evening.’
‘We’ve also made sure the user journey is as simple as possible. Individuals or teams can visit our website (www.letswork.io), sign-up and pay for one of our packages online and immediately sign-in on the iPad at any of our partner venues to avail the various membership benefits,’ adds Hamza Khan. ‘Members enjoy their unlimited tea and coffee out of the letswork mugs at each venue which also serve as an ice-breaker when they spot other members also using the venue. We want to cultivate a truly collaborative community where our members benefit from each other’s skills, businesses and experience.’
Since its launch in February 2018, letswork also hosts regular events to create added value for its members and the wider public. Past events have included crypto-currency investment workshops, VAT information sessions and even a mindfulness meditation session to emphasize the importance of work-life balance. Members also enjoy other benefits through partnerships with a diverse range of local businesses such as Careem (discounted rides to all venues) and Cadence Theory in DIFC (discounted spin classes for members).
letswork membership is available as daily (AED 39), weekly (AED 209) and monthly (AED 490) packages. Team discounts are available for groups of three or more. letswork can also tailor bespoke packages for corporates looking to offer their employees the flexibility of working remotely outside the office. Geek Fence readers can enjoy a special 10% discount off letswork membership by using the code GEEKFENCE10.
