- GPP Photo Week 2019 starts on February 4 and will run until February 9.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 11 December 2018 | Gulf Photo Plus (GPP), Dubai’s premier centre for photography, today announced the highly anticipated return of the 15th edition of GPP Photo Week, the longest-running international photography event in the Middle East. GPP Photo Week 2019’s schedule of workshops, talks, photo walks, exhibitions and special events is set to kick off on February 4th and will run until February 9th.
Centred around the theme of Get Closer, GPP Photo Week will include a series of workshops and seminars by internationally renowned photographers Zack Arias, Maciej Dakowicz, Nick Fancher, Tanya Habjouqa, Mike Kelly, Sara Lando, Asim Rafiqui and Paolo Verzone. The workshops are available to photographers of all skill levels and cover a series of topics including Street, Commercial & Fine Art photography. In addition to Valentina Vee’s series of video workshops that cover all of the fundamentals of videography for those interested in the format’s growing importance in the current media landscape.
The ever-popular Fujifilm Photo Friday will also make its return on Friday 8 February, providing photographers with a series of workshops, talks and events through an all-day pass. Also making their returns are the GPP Trade Show and The ShootOut. The GPP Trade Show is an exhibition of all of the latest photography gear by industry manufacturers such as Canon and Sony, who will also provide attendees with special offers and free camera cleaning services.
The ShootOut, the traditional curtain closer of GPP Photo Week, will see three professional photographers pitted against one another and the clock as they rush to shoot and process the best possible photograph in only 20 minutes in front of a live audience who decide the winner.
Alserkal Avenue will once again play host to next year’s event, which will also see a lineup of exhibitions and talks that aim to highlight the homegrown talent from around the region including a panel discussion by local photographers Aqib Anwar, Altamash Javed and Huda Bin Redha, a talk by Saudi photographer Tasneem Al Sultan and an exhibition focusing on Arab documentary photography.
As part of its long-standing commitment to providing a platform for emerging photographers from the region, GPP is proud to announce the inaugural GPP Scholarship, which will provide one emerging photographer from the MENASA region with a complimentary space in Tanya Habjouqa’s four-day workshop The Red Pill: Uncharted Territories of Personal Narrative Liberation.
