Summer seems to have officially kicked in in Dubai and the government is in full-swing to convert the city into a smart city.
Adding to the list of smart vehicles and smart immigration, soon smart beaches will be a reality in Dubai.
The first kind of initiative in Dubai, these smart beaches will give beach-goers high-tech services that are environmentally friendly as well.
The beach is a popular destination for residents and tourists alike, in Dubai and converting them into smart beaches is a move that aims to bring even more people to beaches to cool off during the summer.
The first phase of this project will be executed in Umm Suqeim 2, with the groundwork already beginning. The beach will have smart changing-rooms that will not only serve its function, but will also have smart lockers for people to store their belongings carefully. The beach will also feature two wind turbines with more to be added in the future.
What are smart beaches without WiFi?
Of course with the mention of smart beaches, our minds all went to free WiFi. And yes, there will be access to free WiFi along with palm-tree shaped stations that will give more information about Dubai and its surroundings. These stations will also provide quick charging stations for phones and tabs.
While initially the WiFi will only be at Umm Suqeim 2, it will also be installed soon at Al Mamzar beach and Jumeirah.
If you are worried about waiting in line for the charging point, each Smart Palm can accommodate around 50 users in a 53 meter radius.
“Through Smart Palm, the public will be able to benefit from free direct access to the internet while providing valuable public information covering a range of topics including weather forecasts and orientation guides. Most importantly, these structures are entirely self-sufficient thanks to their mono crystal solar panels, which provide up to 21 per cent efficiency.” – Obaid Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General of Dubai Municipality
The best part about all this is that it is completely environment-friendly.
Can’t wait to check out these smart-beaches, don’t you think?
