The iPhone 7!
While Apple is famous for releasing new models that are ‘better than before’ the speculations surrounding the iPhone 7 indicate that Apple is all set to revolutionize the mobile phone industry all over again. But why is this time different?
No headphone jack!
The biggest speculation for now is that the iPhone 7 would come without the 3.5 mm headphone jack, thus making it thinner than the other iPhone models. Imagine a phone without a headphone jack. No more dangling wires that get tangled up and become impossible to detangle; no more rummaging around our bags to dig out our headphones and certainly no more looking for stores to buy a decent headset. But the question is, are we really ready for such an upgrade? Granted it’s exciting but what’s the alternative? Bluetooth headsets are still fresh in the market and pretty expensive to buy. And I don’t think that Apple is going to offer a pair of Bluetooth headset with its phone to make things easier. Besides, with Bluetooth headsets the whole battery-life debate arises. Even if Apple includes the Bluetooth headset with the phone, can we ensure that with the history of the iPhone’s battery life that this time would be better?
Are we ready for a wireless upgrade?
Someone has to start somewhere to see if people are ready for innovation and that is what Apple is doing right now (according to rumours anyway). While I am pretty excited about the wireless headphone factor, it still raises a lot of questions. It might have a provision for a microphone but how weird would it be to speak into thin air (so to say) while walking down the road or riding a bike? Wireless headphones are great for music but for talking? We don’t know how Apple plans on handling this factor but let’s see if they come up with something.
*The iPhone 7 is rumoured to be released in September 2016, which gives us plenty of time to keep speculating!

The iPhone 7 is rumoured to be at least 1mm thinner than the iPhone 6S, which means it is going to be 6.1mm and thinner than ever. This means that the charging port might be smaller leading to people getting a whole new bunch of chargers for the iPhone 7 because their existing chargers will be rendered useless. Added to this is the fact that there will be no 3.5mm headphone jack. So there really is no surprise that the phone would have been thinned down by default. The iPhone 7 could also have stereo speakers rather than the mono speakers Apple has been sticking to, till now.
