Apple joins the latest bandwagon in killing off products that we grew up with and love. The iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle have been quietly and officially discontinued by Apple. You can still ‘search’, ‘learn more’ and ‘buy’ but these lead to empty links.
Apple’s move ends the era of iPods that lack internet connectivity. You can still buy these models from other websites till stocks last of course.
“Today, we are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod touch now with double the capacity starting at just $199 and we are discontinuing the iPod shuffle and iPod nano.” – Apple spokesperson
With this announcement, tech addicts are now wondering if the iPod touch will come with further updates at the next Apple WWDC.
“All of us have known for some time that iPod is a declining business,” – Apple Chief Tim Cook.
