Dubai airports has announced a new service fee for its passengers, which will be effective for flights departing after June 30th, 2016, booked after March 1st.
The Executive Council Resolution No (8) of 2016, which allows for fees to be collected from passengers who use Dubai airports facilities was approved by Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The additional fee for Dubai Airports is DH 35.
The traffic at Dubai airports is all set to reach 100 million passengers by 2023 and this move aims to serve expansion plans to fit in this traffic and to develop extra infrastructural facilities like a state-of-the-art Concourse D, expansion of Terminal 2 and the renovation of terminal 1 at Dubai International Airport. This expansion’s first phase should be completed by the mid-2020s.
While cabin crew, passengers below 2 years, and transit passengers with the same flight number are exempt from this fee, everyone else has to pay Dh35 extra for using the Dubai airports services and facilities. Airlines that are operating in Dubai airports must collect this fee while issuing tickets both within UAE and outside the country.
This fee includes transit passengers who have different flight numbers. The fee will be collected by the airlines who will then pass it on to the Dubai Government Public Treasury via Dubai Airports.
Dubai International Airport is the world’s busiest airport for international travelers and belongs to the category of having some of the lowest airport fees in the world.
