In line with Dubai’s 2020 vision to make it a smart city, the UAE’s first smart street was unveiled in Dubai.
ICT solutions provider Huawei along with the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority have helped in installing this smart solution on a pole in Dubai Silicon Oasis.
The area has become a smart street thanks to the digital signage that offers real-time news and information display and also internet access across a 300-meter radius. This smart solution also has a CCTV solution to make sure that the area is under surveillance at all times. And, it has sensors that can monitor temperature, humidity, and air quality.
“The installation of the first smart street pole in DSO will enable us in collaboration with our strategic partners, to test this new smart solution in order to evaluate its scalability and feasibility for large-scale implementation across our hi-tech park as well as the city of Dubai. – Muammar Al Katheeri, Vice President of Engineering Management at DSOA.
An interesting feature about this smart solution is that it is future ready, which means that it can adapt to any additions or extra capabilities in the future.
