On April 14th, Bord Eau chef Mansur Memarian will re-create the Titanic’s last meal at the Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri in Abu Dhabi.
If you are an ardent fan of the Titanic, then head down to Abu Dhabi and try out the meal that is being re-created from the original ship’s menu that was recovered from the famous sinking. While the meal now costs 406 AED (plus taxes), it is quite cheap compared to the fare that the original travelers in the Titanic had to pay to travel in the first class of the ship (around AED 367,000).

The restaurant is sparing no effort in re-creating this extensive menu and it has been a fascination of chefs from all over the world. It is interesting to note that the Titanic sank on April 14th, 1912 just a few hours after this sumptuous meal was served to its first class patrons. This meal is now being re-created on the same day, on its 104th anniversary. Too much play on the numbers 1 and 4, I would say.
The dinner is accompanied by lively music (Jazz) and just a touch of history according to Thomas Guss, the hotel’s general manager. Guests can be transported back in time, to an era where the rich enjoyed their lifestyle, all for just AED 406, which is a deal in itself.
